KAAS – Personnel Air Shower Series

Models: KAAS-A1, KAAS-B1, KAAS-C1 and customised multi-person configurations

Brand: KAAS
Product Type: Cleanroom Personnel Air Shower

Overview

The KAAS Personnel Air Shower is designed to reduce loose dust and particulate contamination carried by personnel before they enter a cleanroom or controlled production area.

Installed between clean and non-clean zones, the air shower uses high-velocity, HEPA-filtered air jets to remove loose particles from cleanroom garments, hair and exposed surfaces. The entry and exit doors are electrically interlocked, allowing the chamber to function as an airlock and helping reduce the direct transfer of unfiltered air into the clean area.

The series is available with different airflow velocities, chamber lengths and airflow arrangements. Standard configurations include single-person straight-through models, while longer chambers and wider multi-person versions can be customised according to the facility layout and personnel traffic.

The catalogue lists standard single-person models with internal dimensions of approximately 800 × 910 × 1980 mm, adjustable shower cycles, G4 pre-filtration and HEPA filtration stated above 99.99% efficiency at 0.3 μm.

How the Personnel Air Shower Works

  1. The operator enters the air shower chamber.

  2. The entry door closes and the electrical interlock is activated.

  3. The blower draws air through the G4 pre-filter and HEPA filtration system.

  4. Clean air is discharged through stainless-steel nozzles at high velocity.

  5. Loose particles are removed from the operator’s garments and body surface.

  6. Return air is recirculated through the filtration system.

  7. Once the programmed shower cycle is completed, the clean-side door is released.

The catalogue describes the air shower as a transition device between clean and non-clean areas, with interlocked doors helping prevent unfiltered air from directly entering the cleanroom.

Important Application Notes

Cleanroom Classification

The air shower helps reduce particle transfer but does not independently create or guarantee an ISO cleanroom classification.

Cleanroom classification depends on:

  • HVAC performance
  • HEPA filtration
  • Room airflow
  • Pressure control
  • Room construction
  • Personnel procedures
  • Cleaning and validation

HEPA Filter Grade

The catalogue states filtration performance above 99.99% at 0.3 μm. The specific filter grade, such as H13 or H14, should be confirmed in the final KAAS technical specification.

Particle Removal Limitation

The air shower is designed to remove loose particles. It does not replace:

  • Proper gowning procedures
  • Garment cleaning
  • Surface wiping
  • Personnel hygiene
  • Validated sanitation or sterilisation processes

UV or Ozone Systems

UV-C and ozone should be treated as optional supplementary features. They should not be marketed as guaranteed sterilisation unless the dose, exposure time, safety controls and validation have been defined.
