KAAS – Dynamic Pass Box

Brand: KAAS
Product Type: HEPA-Filtered Cleanroom Transfer Chamber
Application: Controlled transfer of materials between clean and less-clean areas

Overview

The KAAS Dynamic Pass Box, also known as an air shower pass box, is designed for transferring materials between cleanrooms and adjoining lower-classified or uncontrolled areas while actively reducing loose surface particles.

Unlike a static pass box, the dynamic pass box incorporates a blower and HEPA filtration system. During the transfer cycle, filtered air is circulated through the chamber to remove loose particles from the surface of tools, components, samples, packaging materials and other transferred items.

Electromagnetically interlocked doors prevent both sides from opening simultaneously, helping the chamber function as an airlock between areas of different cleanliness levels.

The catalogue lists standard internal chamber sizes of 400 mm, 500 mm and 600 mm, together with H13/H14 minipleat HEPA filtration, a differential-pressure gauge, DOP test port, UV tube with hour meter and adjustable air-shower timing.

How the Dynamic Pass Box Works

  1. The loading-side door is opened.

  2. The item is placed inside the chamber.

  3. The loading-side door is closed.

  4. The electromagnetic interlock prevents the opposite door from opening.

  5. The blower circulates air through the HEPA filter.

  6. Filtered airflow removes loose particles from the item surface.

  7. The UV lamp may operate as a supplementary treatment, depending on the selected cycle.

  8. Once the programmed cycle is complete, the receiving-side door is released.

  9. The item is removed from the chamber.

The filtered airflow helps reduce particle transfer while the interlocked doors limit direct air exchange between both areas.

Important Application Notes

UV Lamp

The UV lamp should be described as a supplementary treatment only.

Its performance depends on:

  • Exposure time

  • Lamp intensity

  • Distance from the item

  • Surface cleanliness

  • Shadowing

  • Validation procedure

Do not present UV exposure as guaranteed sterilisation unless the process has been validated.

HEPA Filter Grade

The catalogue indicates H13/H14 filtration. The exact filter grade, efficiency and test method should be confirmed in the final KAAS specification.

The dynamic pass box is intended to remove loose particles. It does not replace:

  • Washing

  • Manual wiping

  • Chemical disinfection

  • Autoclaving

  • Validated sterilisation

  • Cleaning of heavily contaminated goods

Cleanroom Classification

The pass box supports contamination control but does not independently establish or guarantee an ISO cleanroom classification.
